The Breast Augmentation Procedure

During the breast augmentation procedure, incisions are made either around the nipple and areola, in the crease beneath the breast or in the underarm area. The implant is then placed either underneath your chest muscle or on top of the muscle and below the breast tissue. If saline implants are used, they are filled to the desired size at this time. Finally, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures. The result is a fuller, natural-looking breast. The operation is performed under general anaesthesia and can be completed in approximately two hours. An additional two hours is needed for post-surgical recovery.

Recovery after Breast Enlargement Surgery

After your breast enlargement surgery, you should plan to take it easy for at least one week. During this time, you may experience some pain and pressure, which can be alleviated with medication. Compression garments can be used to reduce swelling. Most women can return to work one week following their breast augmentation surgery and can begin exercising again after a few weeks. Dr Norris advises patients on a case-by-case basis on when they are able to resume their normal activities.

Dr Norris uses dissolvable sutures, which saves you from the inconvenience of having them removed. Any scarring after your operation will be barely noticeable as the incisions are made in inconspicuous places. Final results of breast enlargement surgery can be seen after four weeks and full recovery can take a few months.
