Candidates for Breast Lift with Implants
The best candidates for breast lift surgery with implants are women who not only have sagging breasts, but have also lost fullness in their upper breast area. Sagging of the breasts is common in women who have breastfed or lost significant amounts of weight. A breast lift with implants can restore fullness to the breasts, offering even better results than a breast lift alone.
Patients should be healthy and emotionally stable, and not pregnant or breastfeeding. Dr Norris can determine if you are a suitable candidate during an initial consultation at our practice. If you are a suitable candidate, he can discuss your options with you, such as the type of implant used and the placement of the incisions. He can also address any questions or concerns you may have. The Breast Lift Procedure
During the breast lift procedure, incisions are made in and around the breast. Dr Norris uses advanced short-scar techniques to help you achieve the most natural-looking results with minimal scarring. Once the incisions are made, he removes excess skin and breast tissue from the area. He then lifts the nipple to a higher position and elevates and repositions the skin for a firmer and younger-looking appearance. The size of the areola can also be altered at this time if necessary. Dr Norris inserts a silicone gel implant or saline implant into the breast pocket. He will help you determine which implant is most suited to your needs during your consultation. After the implants are inserted, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures, which do not need to be removed. The result is a natural-looking, younger and perkier breast appearance. Breast lift surgery using implants is performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately two hours.
Recovery from Breast Lift Surgery with Implants
Dr Norris recommends that you take it easy during the first week after your breast lift with implants operation. You may experience some pain, bruising, and swelling for the first two weeks. Any discomfort can be controlled with pain medication. You should wear a support bra for several weeks after surgery to help your breasts heal faster and retain their new shape. Most patients are able to return to work within seven to 10 days. However, you should avoid any strenuous exercise or activity for several weeks. Scars will appear red at first, but will fade to a light pink, then silvery-white. It may take up to one month to see the full results of your operation, and a full recovery can be expected after several months.
