The Breast Lift Procedure

Breast lift surgery involves recontouring and raising the breasts and nipples to a more youthful, perkier position. Dr Norris uses a variety of advanced short-scar techniques during the breast lift operation to minimise the amount and length of post-surgical scars.

During the procedure, Dr Norris removes excess tissue and skin that cause the breasts to droop. The breasts are then reshaped and lifted for a more youthful appearance. The nipples are also repositioned to a higher point. If breast implants are desired, they are placed in the breast pocket at this time. Finally, the incisions are closed with dissolvable sutures which do not need to be removed. The operation takes approximately two hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. An additional two hours are required for post-surgical recovery.

Recovery after Breast Lift Surgery

After breast lift surgery, you can expect to be up and about after two days. Dr Norris recommends that you take it easy for at least one week. You may experience some soreness, bruising, and swelling of the breasts, and numbness in the nipples. Any pain or discomfort can be controlled with medication. Dr Norris recommends that you wear compression bandages and sports bras during the healing process to control swelling and help the breasts retain their new shape. Most patients are able to return to work and other light activities in approximately one week to 10 days. You should avoid strenuous exercise or lifting for at least four weeks. Any resulting scars will turn slightly pink in colour and fade over time.
